I've really come to appreciate people that do similar podcasts, blogs, and websites that I do.  When I first began, I thought of all these as competition.  But I have come to learn that these are some of my biggest supporters out there.  These are also the people I have a lot in common with and can learn from.  And most important of all, these are people that add to this growing community of outdoor podcasters.  The bigger and closer the community, the better off we all are.

I started Beautiful Places with the idea that I would span the globe filming beautiful places everywhere!  I soon realized that this is impossible.  Not only because I can't get around to even all the National Parks, but there are so many places in so many states and countries.  Our world is filled with beautiful places and we need an entire community of photographers and videographers out there all sharing the places near them and the places they visit.  Truthfully, I would love to podcast Yosemite for the rest of my life and would count that as a huge success and dream fulfilled.

Compass Points is one of those podcasts out there that is dedicated to bringing you all to outdoor places and showing you the gear, the trails, and all the fun you will have when you venture outside.  Dave Pidgeon hails from the East Coast, so the show concentrates on that side of the USA.  There are trail guides from Arizona and reports from Costa Rica so I'm sure he'll be travelling around more as well.  From the website:  "Compass Points TV comes to you via YouTube with a series of 3- to 5-minute segments designed to give you a look at some of the best trails we know, and to hopefully get you inspired to see it for yourself. One thing we at Compass Points know for sure, watching a video about a trail can never replace the experience of actually hiking it."

Today is the official launch of Compass Points TV!  So take a look, leave a comment, and tell your friends about it.

Many Thanks

Hey Tony! I've been engulfed in "crunch time" here at the Compass Points Base Camp, and I haven't been surfing the usual blogs I read. Just saw this post, and I appreciate your support. I use to work at a chain outfitter here in Lancaster, Pa., and one day, my boss told a customer they should go to this independent outfitter on the other side of town. I pulled the manager aside, and in my surprise asked her why she did that. "Aren't we sending business to our competitor?" And she said: "Look, if they're doing well, we're doing well. If we don't have something and they do, we'll tell the customer about that, and that customer will remember us the next time." I can't film Bryce Canyon, but I can send readers your way. And if we're both doing well, helping others discover new places, then our goals are one and the same. Keep up the great work! We'll be watching here on the east wishing we were on the west.

Yep!  That's what it's all

Yep!  That's what it's all about.  Success for all of us!
